Hi all, RIPE 86 is approaching fast. Apart from doing a lot of work, it’s of course also an opportunity to do social networking. The official social events have been posted: Social Events – RIPE 86 And you can use this forum to announce and coordinate any DIY Socials (such as running, climbing, dancing etc.).
Good idea for the use of Forum. Here is my call to connect
Beest Boulders (Benthemplein 10) is likely the destination for the RIPE-Rock excursion this time.
It should take about 25 minutes to get there from Ahoy by Metro D/E to Stadhuis, then a short walk. The gym is a few floors up, with views over the city.
If you have climbing shoes, do bring them. If not, or you haven’t room to pack them, that’s fine too; they’ll be happy to let you hire a pair! In this case, you’ll probably want to bring a pair of light, uncushioned socks.
If you’ve not climbed before, don’t let that stop you. All you’ll need is gymwear, and socks (see above).
Entry is €17.50, or €22.50 (including shoe hire) for an introductory session.
If this is for Wednesday 24 May I plan to be there!
Here’s an update for this evening’s excursion to
Beest Rotterdam, Benthemplein 10 (Metro: Stadhuis).
Harry Cross has (been) volunteered to shepherd the people
who won’t be free until after the GM.
If you are ready earlier, and want to be part of a group
travelling from the RIPE86 venue, look out for Emile
Aben or me. I expect that, like me, Emile may not yet
have an exact plan for when to leave Ahoy. In my case,
I need to pass by my hotel to drop off meeting stuff
and collect my shoes and chalk.
If you prefer to navigate as an autonomous individual,
we’ll see you there!

(meta)schematization: What are the corporeal, cultural, political, and technical schemas that animate us? How do new media, forms of artificial intelligence, and digital money get a hold on our souls today?
…also museums have free entrance later today!
