Probe bootstrap using IPv6 router advertisements (without DHCP)

I raised this question at RIPE 78 in Reykjavík in 2019.

I would like to host RIPE probes but the network I want to use for them has no possibility to have DHCP services, but router advertisements for IPv6 are trivial, and our default when we add IPv6.

I would really like it if the probes could auto-provision from that and then when it contacts the cloud, it could get IPv4 information from there.

One way to go about this is to install software probes - where the network configuration is entirely in your hands. Of course it’s less plug-and-play

Also, static network configuration (RIPE Atlas docs | Probe Static Address Configuration | Docs) may help you.
