Hi all,
I’ve been diving into the world of cybersecurity lately, and I keep noticing how important networking knowledge is, especially when it comes to real-world applications. I have a solid understanding of basic protocols and subnetting, but I’m wondering—how deep should someone go into BGP, DNS, and routing for cybersecurity-focused roles?
I’ve been preparing with some Cybersecurity Interview Questions and Answers resources, and networking always comes up. But sometimes the questions go beyond just firewalls and IP addresses—they dive into how internet routing actually works.
Since RIPE is such a key part of the internet ecosystem, I figured this would be the best place to ask: what level of knowledge do you consider “must-have” for someone getting into the security side of things? Should I be hands-on with route servers or just understand the concepts?
Appreciate any insights or resources you can recommend!
Thanks,
